Video: Why entrepreneurs can't ignore video

Watch our latest video about….video. There are some really good reasons that entrepreneurs and business owners need to start taking video more seriously. Watch Amanda Gregory, founder of Kafen8 riff on the future of video.

Here’s the transcript:

Let's talk about video. Obviously. I'm here talking to you on video. There is a really specific reason that I am doing this on video. And the reason that I am doing this on video is because of everything that's been happening in social media.

So a couple weeks ago a man named Adam Mosseri, he is the head of Instagram. I follow him. I highly recommend that you follow him because he will kind of just go off and answer all kinds of questions. He gets hater emails and he'll answer those too, but he's the head of Instagram.

He'll talk on Stories or posts about what's happening at the company, what's happening in social media. The reason I think it's very significant to listen to what he has to say, is I see Instagram is at the forefront of what's happening in social media. Partially because they really are the biggest with Facebook and Instagram. It's a pretty big monopoly. But I also see a lot of the innovation or copycat innovation that's going on in social media on Instagram.

And so, Adam Mosseri came on a couple weeks ago and said Instagram is no longer going to be primarily known as a photo-sharing app. So we are all in on video and we are going to be making a lot of changes and putting a lot of energy into video and I have to say, I wasn't super surprised you heard him say that. But, I was a little surprised to hear him say so very publicly we are no longer going to be known primarily as a photo sharing app.

Video is really where content is going. So the research really even supports that. More and more of the way that people are choosing to consume content is video. And you'll actually even see a blog kind of wait a few. I don't know.

Months back, we did a blog about the fact that blogs that use video are viewed more, something like 80% more. Don't quote me on that number. I'm terrible with (remembering) numbers, but 80% more, more seen, and more consumed, than blogs without.

So anyway, that's why I'm here on video. I have really challenged my company to really push video more do more on video. So here, I am trying to lead by example, and show clients that it's not all that scary to be on video.

So that is something that we will be talking about. I think that will be a recurring theme is video. How you can put in more video into your social media content, creation, how you can kind of start to think video first. And also, why video doesn't have to be that scary because yeah, it's like not my favorite thing in the world to like get on and turn the ring light on and sit here and put myself out there, but I think it's really important, because I actually think I have a lot to say, a lot to to share and why not share it on video?
